Carol Runyan, Au.D.
Carol is originally from Niagara Falls, NY. She received her Master’s Degree in Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1985 and her Clinical Certificate of Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from ASHA in 1987. In 2002 Carol completed her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D) degree from A.T. Still University in Arizona.
Carol began working in the hearing healthcare field in 1985. She became interested in helping individuals with hearing loss as a Junior in college when she worked at a summer camp for speech and hearing impaired children in upstate NY. At that time Carol had no knowledge of hearing aids, but was the live-in camp counselor for a cabin of 10-12 year old boys from the Buffalo, NY School for the Deaf. She was intrigued that none of the boys wanted to wear their hearing aids, and learned from them that they felt the sound quality was very poor, that the were often too loud and uncomfortable, and that the boys did not like the sound of their own voices. At the end of that summer Carol made her decision to go into the field of audiology to pursue a career helping save hearing lives!
It is and has always been Carol’s goal t do everything possible to help improve the quality of life for individuals with hearing loss, and to help the person and their family meet their own personal goals for improvement. Carol works diligently to be informed and updated in all aspects of hearing and hearing aid technology.
In her spare time Carol enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog. She likes walking, skiing, reading, cooking and movies and is always happy to try a new restaurant.
